WSOP Gold Bracelet

Posted in Poker Articles on October 13th, 2008
Actually, to say that the WSOP bracelet is a gold bracelet is not perfectly accurate. It is not just gold in this piece of jewelry. Way back in 1976, the bracelet could be described as "something like a gold nugget, but hammered." During that time, this piece cost five hundred dollars. It was in 2006 that Frederick Goldman, Inc started making the bracelets. The renowned watchmaker Corum at the same time started making commemorative watches as items of the overall prize package. The champion's bracelet at this time had more than 200 stones, consisting of 7.2 carat diamonds, 120 g of white/yellow gold, and bits of rubies and sapphire. It is not hard to believe that there are pros who cherish the bracelet more than the actual cash won, even if the money did change their lives. When it is worn, the bracelet 'shouts' to everyone that the wearer is one of the best in the world, without actually being blatant. Come 2007, Corum was given the rights to become the official manufacturer of WSOP's bracelets. The company came out with 4 variations in that same year.

The appeal of poker has become so big that even celebrities are asked to play the game. There are certain leagues that show celebrity poker tournaments. The players are there to represent a certain foundation that they would like to support. Their winnings can be given to the chosen foundation thus they do not mind if they win or lose. Yet, many of these celebrities have shown a strong passion for poker that they always give it their all to beat the other opponents. Poker fans know the celebrities that are very good at the game. They have been watching the games on various media channels thus they see good celebrity poker players. Winning Poker Strategy

Posted in Tips & Bits on October 4th, 2008
Poker is not just about chance, it is also about strategy. Having a good poker hand coupled with a winning poker strategy will certainly give you that sweet pot. But even if you do not have a good hand, as long as you employ the best winning poker strategy, you will have better chances of winning. One of the most common strategies used in poker is bluffing. Bluffing is a good strategy if you use it subtly. For bluffing to be effective, you must also know the right time to use it. Still, you must not use bluffing too often; this will give other players the impression that your every move is a bluff. Aside from bluffing, you can also employ the slow playing strategy. Slow playing can get you chances of winning bigger pots. Playing slow will give an impression that you have a poker hand that is not good. This will make other players offer bigger bets.

Free Poker Games

Posted in Poker Articles, Poker News, Tips & Bits on September 28th, 2008
To become an expert poker player requires plenty of practice, experience, and effective strategies. If you want to polish your poker-playing skills and create strategies that can give you an upper hand, a free computer poker game can help. Since you don't have to pay for anything when joining a free computer poker game, you can practice all you want without busting your bankroll. When looking for a free online poker game, look for versions that include tutorial programs. Some of these tutorial programs can teach you which cards to discard and hold. A tutorial program can also help you figure out when to fold and when to raise. Once you've mastered basic poker tips, you can then develop your own strategies for each poker variant. Whether you're playing a Texas Hold 'em or an Omaha poker game, a free online version can help you learn the ins and outs of each game.

Free Poker Tournaments

Posted in Poker Articles, Poker News on September 23rd, 2008
The glitz and glamour of professional poker tournaments has been a dream event for many fans. They have wished to join a league where they can play for big prizes. To fulfill their wishes, Internet sites are offering free poker tournaments. They can stand to win fun prizes that are redeemable in the website itself. Some of the prizes include free premium membership and access to special areas. There is no secret formula in winning these online poker tournaments. A person with a good understanding of the game can easily beat his or her opponents. Logic is important to read the hands of other poker players. Strategic betting is also needed since the player should be able to beat strongly on later rounds. These are the keys to success in winning against opponents that you can only play with virtually since reading the emotions is very unlikely in an online setting.

Bodog Home

Posted in Poker News, Poker Updates on September 18th, 2008
There is a new Bodog Home, meaning, it's going to be a new url address. The public could now go to bodoglife.com- all of this the end result of a long and painful lawsuit (1st Technology LCC is the name of the other entity). Thus, the domain name transfer, and at present, Bodog Home is a new Bodog home with their catch phrase THIS IS BODOG- THIS IS THE LIFE. Actually, Bodog maintains a culture anchored on (I am going to paraphrase a bit) "big stakes, hot women and parties in the exotic places". According to the top man (owner), they relinquished newbodog.com (which they used for a bit of a time), but to get a permanent niche, they went to the current url address. I don't know about you, but I would like to believe that the loyalists of Bodog would not really get affected, even if they change url addresses every month. After all, wherever the url may be, it's STILL one click away of the mouse.
